Thanksgiving excitement and babies.

I am seriously SO excited for Thanksgiving. More so than I usually am.

I guess it's because it's the beginning of my first holiday season as Mrs. Shelley, and I haven't seen a lot of our dear family members in a while, and I just have SO much to be thankful for.

Here is a picture of us on our first Thanksgiving together last year. It was a yucky, rainy day.

It was also kind of a tough day because it was our first family gathering without my cousin. It might always be hard, really, but we can provide strength and support for each other. And help each other rest in the kind of peace that only God can give (Phil. 4:7). That's what families do. And that's a part of the beauty of the holiday season.

I've never cooked anything by myself for Thanksgiving. This year I'm making some homemade mac and cheese and a few dessert items. I'm really hoping they turn out okay...the desserts are some Pinterest ones that I've been wanting to try for a long time. I'll let you know how that goes and if they are excellent/terrible. Hopefully the former. :)

We get to do it all this year. On Wednesday night we'll have Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' house, Thursday we'll have lunch with my extended family at my grandma's, and then Thursday night we'll head to the beach for the rest of the weekend with Jordan's extended family. They get two big houses at the beach for everyone every other year for Thanksgiving - what an awesome tradition.

We both have big families, and on Jordan's side there were two new additions this year (besides me!). My nephew Harvey was born in May, and our cousin Brayden was born last month. Let me just tell you about Brayden's family.

He is the first son in their sweet family.

He has an older sister named Maya who is in college.
He has another older sister Caitlin who was one of our flower girls in the wedding.
And then he has THREE more sisters. Savannah, Arabella, and Kennedy. Who aren't even two years old. Yeah.

Here's us with the triplets last year at Christmas.

This was when they were eight months. How adorable is this?

Can you imagine?? I can't even begin to imagine because I don't know what it's like with just one. Oh and by the way their mom, Heather, has also been taking online classes. Obviously she is a supermom. If she had time, I'd tell her she should blog. But yeah I don't see that happening.

Anyway so as you can guess, Shelley family gatherings involve a lot of baby playing. And I haven't even met Brayden yet so I'm excited! I wish my nephew could be there too...but he's across the world. I'm definitely writing about him soon because you must be exposed to his cuteness. You MUST.

It's going to be an awesome week. What are you excited about for Thanksgiving? Do you have huge family get togethers? Or do you have a more small, intimate setting?

Oh and the bird giveaway ends tomorrow so jump on that while you still have time! :)
