Two things I'll be sure to have packed in my bag:
- I hope I'll have the new iPhone by then...I've been due for an update for a while now and have been waiting for the release. (They're announcing it later today!) The updated camera for some Instamadness will be necessary.
- Leggings and a long sweater. I am SO EAGER to wear this kind of outfit and I'm pretty sure it will be impossible down here for all of September (it's in the 90s today) so I'm hoping for cooler weather. I wanna be cozy and comfy! Oh and northerners - "cold" to me is different than "cold" to you so I may look crazy bundled up but whatev.
Two things I'm looking forward to:
- I cannot WAIT to soak up all that will be taught. These speakers love the Lord deeply and share that with the world in their online ventures and that's exactly what I want. I am going to be jotting down notes at 124 mph. I can't even pick a session that I'm looking forward to the most because they all sound so amazing. It'll be an amazing mix of gospel + gospel in blogging.
- Meeting all of the lovely ladies I admire so much is going to be incredible. I'm probably going to be in shock as I take in all of the beauty and talent surrounding me! I'm so giddy just thinking about it. :)
- I have a Southern accent. This seems obvious since I'm from NC, but whenever I'm up north people are usually taken aback at first.
- I can be a little closed off at first because I'm not a fan of small talk and I'm pretty introverted, but once I get more comfortable I can be easier to talk to. I think. I hope?
- I feel like I can't hear what people say more often than others experience. You would not believe the amount of times I have to get my husband Jordan to repeat something in a day and I'm sure it drives him crazy. I frequently have to just smile and nod at church or at large gatherings. Maybe I should get this checked, but in the meantime I will probably get you to repeat your name/blog/whatever you just said.
I'm praying for the rest of the attendees, for the speakers, and for everything that's going on in preparation! The Lord is going to work in mighty ways there - of this I am SURE.
Speaking of praying, I'm gonna go through every attendee who links up and pray for them individually. This might take a while so I better get started...
Love y'all already. :)

Soo excited to meet you! And can't wait to hear your accent. Southern accents are the cutest :)
ReplyDeleteAww this is so cute! I would love to go to the conference! YAY for our NC accents ;)
ReplyDeleteAshley you are too sweet! You made me smile. I can totally relate to slight introverted-ness+disliking small talk.... which should make for an interesting time! The really cool thing, though, is that we all share this common thread, so I'm praying some of the small talk can go a little bit deeper right off the bat for that reason. Pray it's a wonderful weekend for you! -lauren
ReplyDeleteWish I were going. Next year?
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for the fall too! I'm from Iowa, but now live in hot hot Arizona. I will be packing a my favorite hoodie :) And I can totally relate to not liking small talk and hoping for deeper conversations with others. Looking forward to meeting you and I pray that it's a good weekend for you! -sarah
ReplyDeleteYES! to all of that! And I feel like i need to warn people about all the same things. Maybe we should just stick together! ;)
ReplyDeleteI automatically just love everyone with a southern accent. You even look super sweet in your pic! Plus, if you really have recently become a crier, we would be fast friends! :) I am more extroverted than introverted, but I am really hoping for intentional deep conversations more than just small talk with a lot of people! Hope to meet your sweet self!
ReplyDeleteBAHHHHHHH I LOVE YOU MORE AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU.
ReplyDeleteI totally just smile and nod sometimes rather than asking, "Could you repeat that?" multiple times. But I think I'm fairly good at understanding southern accents--I lived in KY for a few years and then TX. I have a feeling that each state has it's own accent, though!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear your cute accent (and I might be speaking with one by the end of the weekend, or at least I will in my head. always happens when i'm around people with accents). So excited to get to know you and experience all this greatness with you!
ReplyDeleteI've always wished I was from the south and had an accent :) Hope we can meet at the conference!!
ReplyDeleteAshley, I hope you get some fall weather here - it is 95 here in Indy today! I'd love to meet you at the conference, and I'm a shortie introvert too. We can just skip the small talk. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley! I can't wait to meet you. I see that Lindsey already let you know it is H.O.T. up here today. I live in Chicago; we hit 98. Ick. Hopefully, fall will here you are coming and decide to join us. I grew up in GA, but moved to Indy in my 20's. It is an amazing city. I am so grateful that I was able to raise my kids there. I think you will like it. Also- from one southern accent to another- Hoosiers do pretty well with "Ya'll" and all our jargon; so you will be A OK. Thanks for praying for each of us--right back at you. See you in a few, Amy
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure your room is my favorite room of people! (Besides my own, of course ;] ) I can't wait to meet you! You will get plenty of use out of your leggings, I'm sure. And I love Southern accents, so I can't wait to hear yours! Eep! Can't believe it's coming SO SOON.
ReplyDeleteA southern accent. Well, I might just sit and listen to you. :) Can't wait to meet you.
ReplyDeleteI stink at small talk. Really. I totally get that - I'm sort of an introverted extrovert - and small talk is not my thing.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you in just TWO WEEKS!
Hi, lady! Really excited to meet you and hear your cute southern accent! :) I can also be pretty introverted and am not a huge fan of small talk. So, I relate!! See you soon! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment on my blog!

Get it? I'm writing it twice in case you didn't process it the first time......... okay, whatever, I thought it was funny. Anyway, people make me repeat myself all the time because apparently my voice comes out soft and quiet. It sounds normal to me, but it does drive my husband crazy! :P I'm going to have to make an effort to speak loudly and clearly at the conference.
Just reading about leggings and sweaters makes me want to wear them. Yay fall!! Yay cool temperatures! :D
Hey Ashley! I'm Kerrie (one of the attendees of our Saturday night roommate dinner!) and I can so relate to the accent thing (alabama). Last year I roomed with three girls from the north and literally couldn't understand anything they said. I had to ask them to repeat themselves constantly. One of the phrases that they quoted from my last year was "I can't understand anything you people are saying to me!!" haha They all said they felt like they had more of a twang after the weekend was over ;) See you there!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley! Thanks for your comment on my blog! I completely agree with you on your second warning about yourself-I'm the same way with not being a fan of small talk and being introverted. It can take me awhile to open up with people. :) And I love that you have a Southern accent! Hope we get to meet at the conference!
ReplyDeleteummm, yes, it'll take a while to go through the link-up (I'm not even half-way and more keep popping up!). Also, I'm blog-less at the moment so not on the link-up. BUT, hey, let's hang out at the conference. I'm a newbie to Influence and also not much for small talk. (@lisavdesigner on Twitter/Instagram)
ReplyDeleteGirl I can't wait to meet you! Yes to the sweaters and leggings!!- I'm in AZ so 110 degrees still is just not going to allow for this! :) I am the same way.. Takes me a little while to warm up but so looking forward this! You're so sweet to pray for everyone individually, what an awesome idea! I would so love to meet you & hang out while we are there! Ps- you're beautiful friend!
